Looking for something different & fun to do on a Saturday afternoon - then Join SPP for a stroll in the "suburbs" of funky and artsy Gulfport! The tour will look at this small town on Boca Ceiga Bay and its collection of historic commercial and residential structures.
Over the decades, dreams were typically much bigger than reality for the small town of Gulfport, starting when it was known as Disston city, named for Hamilton Disston. Disston became the country's largest landowner after bailing out Florida by purchasing four million acres from the state for one million dollars in 1881. Gulfport was also the home of Alvah Roebuck who partnered with Richard Sears to create the famous store named after them. A Sears "kit" home will be seen on the tour as well as other Roebuck homes.
Come a bit early and take a peak inside at the Gulfport Historical Museum where the tour starts or stay a bit after the tour and tryout some of Gulfport's fun "watering holes!"
Reservations recommended as tour size is limited.
