Looking for something different & fun to do on a Saturday afternoon - then join PTB and our partner the Gulfport Historical Society for a stroll in the suburbs of funky and artsy Gulfport! The tour will look at this small town on Boca Ceiga Bay and its collection of historic commercial and residential structures.
Over the decades, dreams were typically much bigger than reality for the small town of Gulfport, starting when it was known as Disston city, named for Hamilton Disston. Disston became the country's largest landowner after bailing out Florida by purchasing four million acres from the state for one million dollars in 1881. Gulfport was also the home of Alvah Roebuck who partnered with Richard Sears to create the famous store named after them. A Sears kit home will be seen on the tour as well as other Roebuck homes.
You may want to stay a bit after the tour and tryout some of Gulfport's fun watering holes!
PTB members are free. Guests and non-members are $10/person. Tour reservations are recommended.
Please note: This tour starts at Scout Hall (next door to Gulfport Historic Museum) at 5315 28th Avenue South Gulfport, Florida 33707
