About Us

Preserve the 'Burg (PTB), formerly known as St. Petersburg Preservation, is an incorporated tax exempt 501(c)3 organization. We are comprised of an all-volunteer board of directors and one full time staff member.

PTB seeks to Educate, Advocate and Celebrate what is special about St. Petersburg.

Since 1977, PTB has been working to secure the preservation, rehabilitation, restoration, maintenance, and/or acquisition of important natural, scenic, historic, and architectural sites and structures. PTB does this by working with the City, County, businesses, and individuals to identify historic districts and sites, landmark significant structures, and foster appreciation of St. Petersburg’s historic environment. And no matter what projects PTB undertakes, the overarching goal is to instill in St. Pete’s citizens an appreciation of our shared heritage and culture and how this contributes to our quality of life and economic success.

The Mission of Preserve the 'Burg is to:
  1. educate the public about local historic architectural resources,
  2. landmark or assist in the landmarking of deserving sites and structures, and
  3. preserve sites and structures previously landmarked.
