PTB continues to work with Deuces Live and the African American Heritage Association of St. Petersburg on efforts directed at ensuring the Pinellas County Schools are committed to and put in place a plan for the adaptive reuse of the Melrose Clubhouse. At the end of July, the groups reached out to Superintendent Mike Grego, seeking a meeting to discuss with him the Pinellas County Schools' plan for the historic building. The groups also advised the Superintendent of the State's commitment to the protection of historically or culturally significant African American sites with the inclusion of $30 million dollars in the 2021-2022 state budget for a grant program to help protect such resources.
