The city has entered the second of three phases to the StPete2050 planning process. The present phase entails a review of the goals, objectives, and policies of the city’s Comprehensive Plan. The Comprehensive Plan is an important document for guiding how the City addresses historic preservation.
PTB will continue to speak up for preservation and be actively engaged with the city as it reviews and updates its Comprehensive Plan, including urging the City to adopt clear and direct policies to help further historic preservation goals. The development boom has shown the need for stronger preservation policies to keep St. Petersburg special.
A public outreach meeting is scheduled for July 14 at 6:30 pm for the City to receive input about the Comprehensive Plan’s historic preservation element. The meeting can be attended by zoom, https://zoom.us/j/92009760945. It is important for the City to hear that people are concerned about keeping our city special and maintaining community character. Consider zooming into the meeting, and “raising your hand” to say you support strong preservation policies to protect the sense of place in our historic neighborhoods, Central Avenue and the area downtown around Mirror Lake. If you are not able to attend the meeting, you can email comments to derek.kilborn@stpete.org (put “Comprehensive Plan Updates” in your message title).
