History

The Polish American Society of St. Petersburg, established in 1951, is one of Florida's oldest organizations dedicated to honoring and celebrating Polish and American culture.

The society's clubhouse, located at 1343 Beach Drive SE, was constructed in 1956 and has served as a vibrant community hub for more than seven decades, offering traditional Polish dance, cuisine, and art.

Designed by architect J.H. Messineo, the building features a unique "floating" dance floor and original artwork celebrating traditional Polish dance and customs.

The Club worked closely with Preserve the ‘Burg to draft and submit an application for designation and in October 2021, the St. Petersburg City Council unanimously approved the Polish American Society's clubhouse as a local historic landmark. This recognition underscores the club's cultural significance and ensures the preservation of its rich heritage for future generations.

Today, the Polish American Society continues to welcome individuals from all backgrounds, hosting events such as "Thirsty Thursdays," where attendees can enjoy live music, traditional Polish cuisine, and community camaraderie.
